Description
This is a NEAT tool, not a cardio machine
A walking pad tops out at 4 mph and has no incline. It is not going to build your engine and we will not pretend otherwise. What it does is attack the eight-hour block where you are seated, and that block is where most people’s daily movement disappears. Two hours of walking at 2 mph across a working day is roughly four miles you were not otherwise going to do. That is a meaningful change to total daily expenditure, and it is the one form of activity that costs you no training recovery whatsoever.
What to check in your room
Two numbers matter. Belt width — 17″ is usable; 15″ belts exist and they make you concentrate on staying centred, which defeats the purpose if you are trying to work at the same time. And deck height — 5″ here, which sets how much you need to raise your desk. If your desk does not raise, measure your seated-to-standing difference before ordering anything.
Realistic expectations on noise
At 2 mph this runs at about 45 dB, below normal conversation. Your footfall will be louder than the motor, so if you are above a neighbour, a mat under it does more than any specification on the box.
