Description
Sequential is the part that matters
Four chambers inflating from ankle upward, in sequence, is what produces a milking action toward the heart. A single-chamber sleeve that squeezes the whole leg at once does not do this, and it is the difference between a device with a plausible mechanism and a device that just feels tight. Chamber count and sequence are on every honest spec sheet; if a listing does not state them, assume the worst.
What the evidence actually supports
Intermittent pneumatic compression has reasonable support for reducing perceived muscle soreness and for feeling recovered. It has much weaker support for changing next-day performance. We would rather you buy this because a 20-minute session after a hard week genuinely feels good and gets you off your feet, than because you expect it to add to your squat.
When not to use it
Do not use compression boots if you have a known or suspected blood clot, an open wound, a recent fracture, or a diagnosed circulatory condition, and check with a clinician if you are pregnant. Start at the lowest pressure — most people run these far harder than they need to on the first try and find it unpleasant.
